The movie “Enola Holmes” returns to Netflix with a sequel in which Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill will return to their roles. What can we expect from “Enola Holmes 2” and when will it appear on Netflix? Let’s take a look at everything we know so far.
The first film, directed by Harry Bradbeer, released on Netflix in September 2020 after originally being expected in theaters. Thanks to Pandemonium, Warner Brothers sold the film rights to Netflix, and the rest is history.
“Enola Holmes” is currently the seventh most-watched English-language film on Netflix, with 76 million people reportedly watching the film in the first 28 days after its release. The film also soared to the top of the Top 10 chart, lasting 20 days in the U.S. Top 10, but ranking well around the world.
Rumors of a sequel after the first film emerged in early 2021, and we reported that multiple sources claimed the film would return.
Brown also expressed her desire for the film to return, saying:
“We’ll see how people react to the first movie. We’ll see if they fall in love with Enola the way I did, but certainly the story will be much more interesting.”
The sequel to “Enola Holmes” was officially announced in May 2021.
As you may know, the film was embroiled in legal troubles with Arthur Conan Doyle’s legacy, but was eventually filmed back in December 2020.
Who will be in the cast of “Enola Holmes 2”?
As of now, only a couple of actors have been confirmed, and they are the two main characters in the next film.
In the original announcement of the sequel, it was confirmed that only Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill would return to their roles as Enola and Sherlock, respectively.
It is unclear whether Sam Claflin (who played Mycroft Holmes) or Helena Bonham Carter (Eudora Holmes) will return.
Louis Partridge, who played Enola’s sidekick, Tewksbury, is expected to return (thanks to a cryptic wink on Millie Bobby Brown’s Instagram), but he has not yet been confirmed.

Who’s behind the “Enola Holmes” sequel?
If nothing’s broken, don’t fix it.
The team behind the film will be essentially the same as the first film.
Harry Bradbeer, director of the multi-award winning film “Flea Bag” (which also consistently broke the fourth wall, as did “Enola Holmes”), will return to the director’s chair for the sequel. Bradbeer is also currently working with Amazon on a “first-look” deal.

In addition, Jack Thorne returns to adapt the sequel script based on the Nancy Springer novels. Thorne is also listed as executive producer of the sequel.
Mikael Dreyer, Ali Mendes, Paige Brown, Alex Garcia, Joshua Grode and Mary Parent will serve as producers.
Where is “Enola Holmes 2” filming?
As of August 2021, production on “Enola Holmes 2” has not yet begun, but it is scheduled for a late 2021 release, which we will discuss a little later.
Millie Bobby Brown, as you may know, is currently busy filming the fourth season of Stranger Things, which should be filming by August or September 2021.
We’ve learned that filming for the sequel will begin in September 2021.
The Knowledge and Hull Live recently reported that filming for the sequel will begin at the production site on Main Street in Hull the first week of October.

The Knowledge claims that “Enola Holmes 2 will use a major southeastern studio as its production base,” which is presumably Shepperton Studios, UK. Hull Live reports that the main street in Hull, UK, will be “transformed into Victorian London” on October 5 and 6. They also report that locals may also get a chance to star in the film, “The production company has also announced that they are recruiting extras to star in the film as passersby dressed in Victorian clothing, and recruitment ads will be posted soon.”
The sequel, like the first film, will be filmed in London.
What can we expect from “Enola Holmes 2?”
The first film ended with the Holmes family reunion (to some extent), and Enola, looking into the camera, stated that she needed to find her own way in the future.
Speaking to Decider, Bradbeer said we can expect a lot of family tensions, “If we go on, there’s going to be a lot of problems left in this dysfunctional family. Not just in the country, which is dysfunctional, but in the family.”
What mystery will be in the sequel is not yet known. There are many stories in the series that need to be adapted. If we follow the logical order, we can expect the next film to be about “The Case of the Lefty,” in which Enola tries to find Lady Cecily Allister.
However, we would love to see them adapt “The Case of the Lefty,” in which Enola searches for Sherlock’s companion, Dr. John Watson.
We’ll be updating this article over time with all new news about “Enola Holmes 2,” but let us know in the comments if you’re looking forward to the sequel.
