White Chocolate May Help Lose Weight: All chocolate lovers are in for a surprise! A recent study showed that even white chocolate (as well as dark chocolate) can help burn body fat.
We all know that dark chocolate can help you lose weight. Various studies around the world have shown that a cube of dark chocolate can reduce food cravings and decrease appetite – these factors can contribute to weight loss. But did you know that even milk chocolate can help burn fat? That’s right! A recent study found that consuming milk chocolate “in a narrow time frame in the morning” can promote weight loss. In addition, a study conducted on a group of postmenopausal women found that it can also help regulate blood sugar levels. The study was published in The FASEB Journal.
The study was conducted jointly by scientists from Brigham and specialists from the University of Murcia in Spain. It was a controlled, cross-sectional study on 19 postmenopausal women. They ate either 100 grams of chocolate in the morning (within an hour of waking up) or in the evening (within an hour before going to bed). After the study, the experts came to four interesting conclusions. Let’s take a look.
Weight loss: Here’s how white chocolate helps burn fat:
- Consuming white chocolate in the morning or evening did not result in weight gain.
- Eating chocolate in the morning or evening can affect appetite, sleep, microbiota composition (gut health) and more.
- Eating a lot of chocolate in the morning hours can help burn fat and lower blood glucose levels.
- Evening/nighttime chocolate altered morning metabolism at rest and during exercise.
Study author Dr. Frank A.J.L. Scheer explained, “Our results show that not only ‘what’ but also ‘when’ we eat can affect the physiological mechanisms involved in body weight regulation.”
According to ANI, study author Dr. Martha Garaulet stated that study participants did not gain weight despite increased caloric intake. Moreover, they found consistent reductions in appetite and cravings for sweets.
Considering all the above factors, we say: go ahead and enjoy white chocolate while dieting for weight loss. But always remember that the main thing is moderation! Also, consult your doctor before adding anything new to your diet.
